The one thing that never changes, grows old or goes out of style is the Word of God. It has never failed a man when put to the test. It cannot be altered and still be truth.
David said, “I was young and now I am old but I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor His seed begging for bread.” The one thing we can rely on is God’s Word.
It is the foundation of life. In this parable Luke conveys that Jesus spoke of a person who built their life on the teachings and precepts that Jesus gave. What we find is that everything that was anchored to the rock did not move.
In order to build a strong foundation it takes more than just a few bricks. Each one has to be precisely laid. What Jesus was saying was that everything we do in life, if it is rooted in the Word of God it will not fade nor grow old. The waters will move and move swiftly, the surrounding area may give way and do some exterior damage over time, but the reality of the matter is this: if we anchor our souls in the Word of God all the temporary things can fade away, but the eternal things that remain will be sure to stand with God’s favor and approval.
