Faith in God’s Absolute

The one thing that never changes, grows old or goes out of style is the Word of God. It has never failed a man when put to the test. It cannot be altered and still be truth.

David said, “I was young and now I am old but I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor His seed begging for bread.”  The one thing we can rely on is God’s  Word.

It is the foundation of life. In this parable Luke conveys that Jesus spoke of a person who built their life on the teachings and precepts that Jesus gave.   What we find is that everything that was  anchored to the rock did not move.

In order to build a strong foundation it takes more than just a few bricks. Each one has to be precisely laid.  What Jesus was saying was that everything we do in life, if it is rooted in the  Word of God it will not fade nor grow old.  The waters will move and move swiftly, the surrounding area may give way and do some exterior damage over time, but the reality of the matter is this:  if we anchor our souls in the  Word of God all the temporary things can fade away, but the eternal things that remain will be sure to stand with God’s favor and approval.

My Thanks to God – Bishop T.L. Kirk

As the Thanksgiving holiday is approaching I want to encourage each one of us of this fantastic congregation to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for.  I’m reminded of a verse to a song we used to sing in days gone by, it gives a powerful message of thanks and here are some of the words. “Just want to tell you I’m thankful for all that you have done,  for the stars and the moonlight and the setting sun; when my work on earth is through I’m coming home to be with you, just want to tell you I’m thankful that’s all.”

Just a short verse that reminds us of how important it is not to take things for granted such as health, family, job and good mental health.

Landon, Haden and I were outside Monday night October 24th enjoying the constellations, such as the big and little dipper, the north star and other marvels God has created, and I thought of things I had to be thankful for and thought I would share some of my thoughts with you.

I thank God for my family and church family.  I never want to take any of the blessings of God for granted.  Remember the Bible tells us “In everything give Him thanks”. In this season of holidays let us remember to be thankful.

There is ugliness and pain of one type or another all around us and we could dwell on all the should’ves, could’ves and would’ves in our lives all we want, but there is a great deal of beauty in this world that God spoke into existence, and I for one want to emphasize things I have to be grateful for.
